Here are a bunch of good places to see what's going on in advertising; the ads and some of the politics (Blech!) Check it all out. The best thing you can do is take in all the work and judge for yourself what you think is great and not so great. Some of these are on-line mags that need a subscription, some you can get a hard copy delivered and some are just free on-line blogs or resources.

AdWeek The magazine about what's going on in the business. Not too focused on ads, more about what agencies won what account and what big wig got fired from where.

Advertising Age Another magazine mostly about the biz end of advertising. Their publication "Creativity Magazine" is much more interesting for, obviously, creatives. You can subscribe to it on their site. They also have ADCritic on-line. Thir link is on this site as well.

N.Y. Times Ad Section It's the Times - Mostly big stuff. But, of course, smartly written.

News Today Happenings in advertising and design.

CMYK Magazine Great mag for ad students.

AdBusters A refreshingly cynical view of advertising.

Communication Arts A cool ad/design magazine, mostly known for their annuals.

Archive Magazine A magazine showcasing great work. Also a great resource to search and see ads.

Print Magazine A magazine about print.

How Design A magazine about design (This is a really helpful guide, huh?)

Boards Magazine Magazine about commercial production, but you can see some good stuf here.

Big Idea Magazine Fun magazine about fun creative work.
